Three Must-See Works of Architecture by Gaudi in Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

For nearly 20 years, attorney Marc Rovner of East Rockaway, New York, has served as general counsel and director of business development at BETA Abstract LLC. Away from his professional pursuits, attorney Marc Rovner enjoys exploring new cultures in cities such as Barcelona, Spain.

Spain has introduced a wealth of art and culture to the world, and in Barcelona specifically, one of the largest draws for tourists are buildings designed by architect Antoni Gaudi. When planning your next trip to the city, consider visiting the following Gaudi works.

1. La Sagrada Familia

Construction began on this church in 1882, and it should be completed by around 2030. Despite its unfinished status, it stands as a revered architectural work that salutes the Gothic style of the Middle Ages.

2. Casa Batllo

The Gaudi design for the Casa Batllo involved a restoration of an old home in 1904. Visitors will notice a mixture of ceramics and stone throughout the exterior, as well as forged iron. Considered radical at the time of completion, the facade features unique organic shapes that set it apart from neighboring buildings.

3. Torre de Bellesguard

Regarded as a crowning achievement in the blending of modernist and neo-gothic architectural elements, the Torre de Bellesguard offers one of the best views of the city of Barcelona. Gaudi designed the structure in the early 1900s, but it only recently came to public attention that it was his creation.
